Weather forecasting system

Weather forecasting is the application of science and technology to predict the conditions of the atmosphere for a given location and time. Weather forecasts are made by collecting quantitative data about the current state of the atmosphere at a given place and using meteorology to project how the atmosphere will change. Weather forecasting is the prediction of the state of the atmosphere for a given location using the applicatio of science and technology.

The Chaos of Weather

"Deliberate fires, called prescribed burns, can reduce the risk, but only if the weather is right. Hot winds can send the fire spiraling out of control. Calm weather is better—except when a temperature inversion traps the smoke at ground level. Then it can mix with water vapor to form a lethal "superfog" that can steal along low drainages and throw a curtain across a highway."

Winter Weather Forecast

"There are several local techniques and rules of thumb that exist on winter weather that have not been widely circulated to the field. This checklist attempts to fill that void for forecasters. The purpose of this checklist is to help operational forecasters to become more proficient at predicting winter weather and to have a "winter cheat sheet" right at their fingertips."

Forecasting Rainfall

"Pakistan is a predominantly dry country. The flat areas in the south and centre have a desert-like climate. The north of the country is visited by the monsoon in July and August. In a short space of time a lot of rain can fall and there can be heavy storms. The extreme north is home to the high mountains: K2 and Nanga Parbat are two of the highest mountains in the world."
